Ancien et nouveau carnet / Old and new sketchbook

Fin de mon carnet fait main avec du papier aquarelle 300 g 100 % coton et inauguration d'un nouveau petit carnet "hand.book" pour mes croquis en extérieur, acheté dans le commerce et avec un papier plutôt fin, mais avec un grain sympa. Donc aujourd'hui un premier essai pour essayer ce papier avec de l'aquarelle. Quand on a l'habitude d'un papier sur lequel on peut retravailler l'aquarelle tant qu'elle est mouillée sans faire de tâches, pas facile, car l'aquarelle accroche tout de suite, donc il va falloir un peu de pratique pour s'y habituer. Par contre malgré le travail assez humide et le rajout d'encre, rien ne traverse le papier, la qualité du papier à l'air plutôt bonne. A suivre ...

Today I ended my hand made outdoor sketchbook with 300gs 100% coton paper and started a new sketchbook called "hand.book", that I bought in a store with quite thin paper with a nice texture. I must probably do several trials before I will get the hang of it with my watercolors because it reacts quite differently than "real" watercolor paper, but the quality of the paper seems fine and the watercolors and ink do not bleed through...

Je passais souvent à Saint Malo de Beignon, sans jamais m'y arrêter. Et j'ai eu raison de m'y installer pour dessiner cette fois-ci. Dans le village, il y a de très jolies maisons qui surplombent le plan d'eau et le jardin des Evêques qui a été restauré et remis en état il y a une bonne vingtaine d'années et qui me faisait un peu penser au jardin du Thabor de Rennes, mais en miniature....

I often drove by Saint Malo de Beignon, but never took the time to stop. So this time, I decided to take some time to draw here and it was really lovely. The small town has some beautiful houses and a lake with beautiful ancient gardens ...

The north coast of Brittany is so beautiful. I returned to Saint Malo and Cancale for the first time after 15 years in July with my friends from Holland and I really wanted to return with my family.
